Delete Digital Drama – Stop Cyberbullying

Be nice to others online

I wanted to make a personal post today about something that affects thousands of teens all around the world, cyberbullying.

Your parents like to tell you that “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” I wish that was the truth. Words do hurt. Sometimes even more then violence can.

Cyberbullying is real and it is happening to more people than you realize. It even happens to me. I post videos online for thousands of people to see and it isn’t easy to ignore negative comments. I can only imagine what some of the people that are being constantly harassed must be going through.

The worst thing about cyberbullying is you have no place to hide, you have no safe haven. The Internet is engrossed in every aspect of our lives. We are in the digital age. The bullying follows you home now. It shouldn’t be that way. Bullies shouldn’t be able to hurt you when you are in the privacy of your bedroom.

Take a pledge right now to think twice before posting a negative comment on a personal Facebook, a viral video, as an @reply on Twitter, or any other place on the net. Could what you are saying hurt someone? If someone said this to you would it hurt? And by the way, saying “No offense….” right before you say something negative does not make it okay. It still hurts.

Write in the comments below how you are going to [Delete] Digital Drama!
