I have a lot to learn (looking forward to it!) about blogging. The wide world of blogging is so vast and although there is no one formula for success, there is some general tips that can be applied to most bloggers. Thank goodness I started reading Elsie‘s blog A Beautiful Mess and found their Blog Love E-Course to guide me.
The A Beautiful Mess Blog Love E-Course is a work-at-your-own-pace online course about blogging that gives information on how to get started, finding your voice, prompts for when you don’t know what to write, information on the importance of features, and more. It is aimed at new bloggers but there is information that even seasoned bloggers should be reminded of.
It took me three days to “finish” the course (reading and taking notes) but my involvement is far from finished. It has taught me valuable blogging lessons I’ve been utilizing these past two-ish months and will be using as I move forward.
Some valuable lessons I learned:
- No matter what, you have to be excited about your blog. If your readers don’t like what you are writing but you do then that is what is important. It may take awhile (and some people un-following) to find the right audience for your blog.
- Keep a calendar or journal for blogging. Writing down potential blog post ideas and keeping a general plan (not necessarily a fixed one) for your blog posts for the month will keep you focused. This has saved me a lot of time!
- Time your blog posts! Note when you start and aim to take no more then half an hour on that post. It isn’t an exact science, some posts take longer then others, but knowing you are on a schedule keeps you more in check.
What is your number one blogging tip?
