How-To Create a Gratitude Journal

How to Create a Gratitude Journal

Hi Kind Friends! The first rule to journaling is that there are no set rules. However, I’ve learned a lot about a few different journaling techniques recently that I wanted to share.

The first, creating a gratitude journal.

It doesn’t have to be anything complicated. Just write down a few things you were grateful for each day. I think three grateful things is a good number to stick with but if that isn’t always easy or you find yourself repeating the same things – start with just a sentence a day. The point is to keep journaling short, so it doesn’t feel like an annoying task, but you still have some wonderful things to look back on when you re-read your journal.

An example entry from one my notebooks:

Yeah, I took it to a really weird place.

2015 update: I now write one sentence about what I am grateful for in my daily planner. It’s easy to remember to do right before i set my to-do list for the day.

What are you grateful for today?

I love this. I’ve been meaning to create a gratitude journal for myself and I love that you write it in your planner. Great idea!

Paper is just essential for me! I don’t really “feel it” if it’s just in an app.
