One Month Without Makeup: My Thoughts

Today was the first day I was able to wear a full face of makeup after my one-mont-makeup-free challenge. Boy was that tough!

Before I get into what I wore today, I’d like to discuss how I felt throughout the month.

At first, I was very self-conscious. I felt very plain. Then as time wore on, I started to feel more comfortable. It was like I had to get used to my skin again. Before the challenge I didn’t wear a significant amount of makeup but I did feel more enhanced.

When I started posting pictures of me without my makeup on instagram saying things like “#nomakeup Day 5” or “#nomakeup Day 10” (and so on) I would get comments from people saying that they wished they had the confidence or the good skin to do this challenge.

That really struck me because I actually have very low self-esteem. I hated going around bare-faced at first. I don’t think I got the confidence to be comfortable without makeup until the challenge was almost over.  I’m just trying to challenge myself daily, to become the person I’d like to meet, to make changes. You can’t do that without a little bit of fear or doubt. I wanted to give up almost every day.

A few funny things I noticed in May, it took me half the time to get ready (I loved the extra sleep!) and to substitute my love for makeup I became obsessed with doing my nails.

Did I reach my goals? Yes! I think my skin looks better then before and my eyelashes do look longer!

My parting words: You never know if you can do something until you try.

Now, onto what I’m wearing today:

Make ups can sometimes ruin our faces. It is better to go out without wearing make ups. Natural look is beautiful than wearing heavy make ups.

I think you were so brave to do this and to get through the month to the finish! There is no way I could do this – I hate how I look without makeup! I do think it is amazing that you are challenging yourself to grow. It is so inspiring x
