How Facebook Made Me Cry

a love that lasts a lifetime

A few weeks ago Facebook released their “Look Back” campaign for their 10 year anniversary. It is an automated system that goes through your Facebook to pick out your first moments, statuses that got a lot of feedback, and some key pictures. Mine told a story I hadn’t realized I was taking for granted.

My life has changed a lot since I joined Facebook in 2007. I was starting my senior year in a new high school (see why I switched high schools) at a dual enrollment school and about to celebrate my three year anniversary with Chris. I had a really well-rounded group of friends (that has since become a smaller but tighter circle) and I was envisioning a future in accounting or nursing.

Things slowly starting changing. I moved in with Chris, fell in love with blogging, and made a new path for myself.

A few key moments (that I can’t believe were automatically generated) include our engagement, becoming a car owner (which lead to me getting over my fear of driving), and visiting Facebook headquarters on my first trip to San Francisco.

The part that really made me choke up was this status message (made public for you guys to see):

Chris is also my only Valentine. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m truly blessed, and I need to take notice of that more often.
