April Favorites 2014: Running Club, Volunteering, and Skincare

Today I’m excited to be sharing with you my April favorites. I’m finally on time with a favorites video! It’s mostly lifestyle and food items, which I actually find more interesting over beauty products lately.

My April favorites:

Running club – Every Wednesday I’ve been meeting up with 50 – 100 people at a local running store. It has been a blast! I feel like I get much more of a workout and run so much faster when I’m being motivated by the people around me.

Volunteering at 5Ks – I started volunteering at 5Ks because all other volunteer opportunities require a minimum amount of hours. At 5Ks, I can volunteer for a few hours in one day without having to commit to volunteering every weekend. I’ve been doing it once or twice a month for the past two months. I really enjoy it because I get the excitement of a 5K without having to actually pay for anything. More details as to why I decided to start volunteering in the video above.

Recently I volunteered with March of Dimes

Morning walks – Mustache and I have been walking together for 20 minutes every morning. It makes him so happy and I love starting the day with activity.

Tazo tea, vanilla parfait – I love the sweet flavor! I also mix in some Pure Via packets.

My love for this tea has made me really interested in the items on yourtea.com, in particular the Tiny Teatox, Her Tea, and Fertility Tea. It’s not something I can afford right now but I want it so badly! If Her Tea and Fertility Tea come back in stock I may impulse buy them since they never seem to be in stock.

Brownie batter pancakes from Chocolate Covered Katie – An incredibly easy recipe to follow. I’ve been eating it about two times a week and will never look back.

current skincare concotions

Tomoson.com – A website that helps connect you connect with brands to try out new products.

Currently I’m trying out turmeric pills to help keep my mind healthy, and a vitamin c serum and rosehip oil from InstaNatural.

I spoke more in detail about why I was interested in turmeric pills in the above video. The only downside I have is that I think the capsule hosing the spice could be sturdier. I feel like I have to be delicate when holding it.

One thing I didn’t talk about too much during the video is my new skincare products from InstaNatural. Every day I’ve been mixing the vitamin C serum with coconut oil and applying it to my face. Then for my body (particular attention to my hands),  I’ve been mixing the rosehip oil with coconut oil. My only complaint so far is that they both smell pretty strange.

Game of Thrones – I love getting together with Chris’ family to watch this show. I am so interested in Sansa and Tyrion right now. What about you?

Delirium by Lauren Oliver on Audible –  I forgot to mention this in my video but it is definitely my favorite book of the month. I listened to it nonstop. The idea is that love is classified as a disease and everyone is required to have it removed from your brain surgically when you turn 18. It’s  fascinating!

That is all of my favorites for this month. Let me know what your favorites are in the comments!

I’d love to try out some of the things you recommend.

(I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.)

  1. great favourites! that’s a cool idea about volunteering at 5Ks. I really loved Delirium, and Before I Fall is another fantastic Lauren Oliver book. :)

  2. Hey Rebecca- Thanks for always having such fun and interesting posts!
I was looking at yourtea.com and it looks like they use mostly Traditional Chinese Medicine formulas. I’m not very knowledgeable on that front, but I thought I’d mention that if you’re interested in using Western herbs instead, you can pick up things like Nettles, Red Clover and Red Raspberry Leaf from a local natural food store, herb shop, or online. I drink nettles and red raspberry on a pretty regular basis and both have been great for my reproductive balance. One major plus with them is that as long as you have a tea strainer, you can get a gigantic bag of either for a few bucks, as opposed to sixty. There are a lot of other amazing reproductive herbs too, that you can research and specify to your needs/body type. Those three are just the more common and traditional.
