House to Home

This video was a labor of love, yet it’s so simple. The simplest of things take so long! Anyway, I am very grateful to finally be showing you my new video – House to Home.

As many of you know, Chris and I moved into our first home in October 2013. I was a bit nervous about being in charge of the decorating since I’ve never decorated my previous spaces before. Now that we are six months in, we feel completely settled and happy in our environment. I wanted to make this video to show you how we came to this comfortable point in our home life, I hope it helps you find comfort in your home.

The most important part about keep my home comfortable, in my opinion, is that most of the items are used.

– Places you can get used furniture –

  • Family and friends (you’d be surprised what they don’t mind giving you if you ask)
  • Goodwill (my favorite)
  • Estate sales
  • Garage sales
  • Salvation Army

Things that I needed to be new were things like rugs, lamps (the Tiffany inspired lamp in this video is used but the floor lamps are from Target), pillows, bedding sets. When looking for these items I tried to keep my color scheme in mind as well as the idea of having a lot of light in my home.

The first thing I bought for my new place was actually my bed set. I purchased it at Marshalls shortly after we decided to move. You can see the haul on At the time I hadn’t told you all that I was moving so I felt really sneaky writing the post.

– Places I bought new items –

  • Marshalls
  • TJ Max
  • Ross
  • Target
  • Bed Bath and Beyond
  • Dollar Store

I also have DIY elements all over. I love looking at things and thinking “Wow, I made that with that piece of junk that I kept for some reason.”

It’s just fun! Here I have a compilation list of some of the projects I followed.

Nature is also a really important aspect of my home. I made sure to have florals, plants, pieces of cut down tree (not kidding), and baskets everywhere to help add to the happiness I feel when I look out my window.

To see more “House to Home” tips, make sure you watch the video at the beginning of this post. Not everything has been written in this post (like my family picture wall).

To see some extra details from our home, check out my bedroom tour and Chris’ gameroom tour. I didn’t show Chris’ gameroom in this video since I didn’t have any hand in decorating it but it may be interesting to you.
