#NaNoWriMo First Thoughts

nanowrimo check in

Hi Kind Friends! Today I’m going to share with you my thoughts on the first two days of NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days, writing a little more than 1,600 words a day. It’s a fun opportunity to be creative and bond with other writers all over the world.

On omghow: How to Write a Book in 30 Days (NaNoWriMo Style)

If you haven’t been following me on Twitter, I’m @RebeccaKSampson. I’ve been updating you guys on my word count progress a lot during the day! Thanks to everyone that has been responding to my tweets with encouragement, it means a lot.

So far I’m really excited with how my story is developing and am ahead on my word count. Go me! I’m trying to write ahead of the guided word count for as many days as possible since I’m not sure how much writing I’ll be able to do on my honeymoon this month.

For the first day I did more of my writing on my balcony and in our entertainment room. On the second day I went to my first NaNoWriMo event, a write-in at Panera Bread. A group of over 10 people got together with our laptops and notebooks and we just sat together writing and chatting. It was a really fun experience. I’m looking forward to going again next Sunday!

I’ll be sharing with you more details on my story in the next check-in. Stay tuned! If you want a sneak peek, add me as a Writing Buddy so you can see my title.

Day 1: 4433
Day 2: 6554

Today will be the first test as to how many words I’ll be able to write during a work day. Wish me luck!

I reallllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyy want to participate in this but I don’t have any book ideas. I guess I could write anything, just as long as I write. I really need to get my ducks in a row. No excuses. I ought to read that link on getting started. :] // ☼ ☯

I’ve heard there is a forum on the official NaNoWriMo site with ideas people have rejected. A lot of people start there, give it a shot!

I found your page through the ABM comments – I’m trying NaNoWriMo for the first time this year and I’ve been blogging about my experience too. I’m ahead on my word count as well, but I’m trying to not to get too comfortable. I’m sure it’s not going to be this easy for 30 days! I’ve added you as a writing buddy and I’m looking forward to keeping up on your progress!

Thank you Delaney! I added you back. Wow you already past 20K! That’s super exciting. I’m still working at it every day but I’m already pretty behind. I’m not letting it get to me though because I am really in love with how my story is progressing.
