NaNoWriMo Essentials That Every Writer Needs

In the past few years I’ve really discovered my love for storytelling and now I work hard daily to make storytelling my reality and day to day. This true love became a part of my life initially because of the event, National Novel Writing Month. It happens every November, where people all around the world write 50,000 words in one month so that the world can read their stories. It’s called NaNoWriMo in shorthand, and now it’s my favorite month of the year.

Go on a Fairytale Adventure with Allerleirauh by Chantal Gadoury

Fairytale retelling

If you are anything like me, you spend too much time on social media. For most of my adult life, social media was my job! To nip that endless scrolling weakness in the butt, I have spent time tailoring my social media accounts. Now my accounts only show me inspiration. On my list are only authors, aspiring authors, bullet journal enthusiasts (it’s a thing, I love it) and other bloggers. And the occasional family/friend member, of course.

If I’m following you, basically, I know you or you inspire me!

Through this quest, I found Chantal Gadoury, someone that I’ve really enjoyed getting to know. I look forward to seeing daily on the internet. And guess what? She is coming out with TWO novels this year. Here I’m sharing with you a bit on her Grimm Fairytale retelling release, Allerleirauh from The Parliment House.

What is Allerleirauh about?

Once Upon a Time…

In the kingdom of Tranen, a king makes a promise to his dying wife that he’ll only remarry a woman who possesses her golden hair. In time, the king’s eyes are turned by his daughter. Realizing her father’s intentions, Princess Aurelia tries to trick him by requesting impossible gifts: dresses created by the sun, moon and stars, and a coat made of a thousand furs. But when he is successful, Aurelia sacrifices her privileged life and flees her kingdom, disguised by the cloak and a new name, Allerleirauh.

She enters the safe haven of Saarland der Licht, where the handsome and gentle Prince Klaus takes her under his care. Hoping not to be discovered by her father’s courtiers, Allerleirauh tries to remain hidden under her new identity when she finds unexpected love with Prince Klaus, even though his arranged marriage to the princess of a neighboring kingdom approaches. Risking everything, Allerleirauh must face her troubled past and her fears of the future along her journey to self-acceptance in this triumphant retelling of the classic Grimm Fairy Tale.

Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? And I’ve got something even more exciting to share. Watch the book trailer for Allerleirauh below.

Let’s Talk About My Boobs | My Breastfeeding Journey

pumping at work

That’s an eye catching title! But really, these past few months as a mother have broken down so many privacy barriers. You have no idea! Talking about my boobs is just a non-issue and plenty of people have seen them too, which is a little weird to type out… But you get the point!

Before Jack was born breastfeeding was this big mysterious thing that I didn’t read up on at all. It was like checking a box on a questionnaire without knowing what it truly meant.

Would you like to give your baby a nutritious meal every two hours that will help him grow and give him immunities to all of the illnesses you’ve contracted? Check! Sounds like an awesome plan.

But boy is it harder than it looks.

Where Have You Been?

Hi there Kind Friends,

It has been a crazy few months so I wanted to put together a little update. Some things have been a bit tough emotionally, so I’m not going to go into everything, but I at least wanted to share a few creative things. Share with me how you are doing in the comments, I’d love to catch up.

Don’t Put Your Wishbone Where Your Backbone Ought To Be

I’ve always been a dreamer. Every year my dreams get bigger and I always believe they will come true. I love that about myself. I don’t doubt that things are going to work out how I want them too. The only problem is, in recent years I’ve spent a lot less time executing those dreams. It’s like Katherine Paterson says, a dream without a plan is just a wish. I’m committed to wishing less and doing more in 2017.

One way I’m switching things up from my usual SMART goals system is by having a word of the year focus. While I do still have some specific goals, they are guided by this one word. Read more
