I Really Need A New Wardrobe – NYDJ Wish List

NYDJ Wish List

I am happy to say that in the past two months I’ve been working out more regularly, doing a combination of cardio, weight lifting, and yoga. My new routine has helped me become a more energetic, flexible, and trimmer version of myself.

I am sad to say, however, that now my clothes don’t look as good on me!

The funny thing is that my weight is exactly the same. The muscles in my legs have just trimmed up so the leg width on my jeans look wider, stretched out, and sloppy. My shirts still fit relatively the same but my dresses in general are just getting pretty worn out. It’s a pain! With a new job hopefully on the horizon, I need to change up my wardrobe soon to fit the new life I’ll be leading.

So when I received this sponsored opportunity from NYDJ, I immediately looked into their super skinny jeans and jean leggings (AKA jeggings) collections. NYDJ is known for their flattering and trim fit clothing so I fell in love with quite a few things.

Super Skinny Jeans from NYDJ

From left to right: Ami Super Skinny in Bedford, and Heyburn, and the Amy Super Skinny Knit Jeans in Dark Enzyme.

And don’t even get my started on their slimming dresses!

Gorgeous Slimming Dresses from NYDJ

From left to right: Brooke Garden Rose Neoprene Dress in Garden Rose Multi, Gracelyn Stretch Crepe Dress in Punch, and the Lexi Tweed Mix Media Dress in Black.

NYDJ clothing is a higher price than I’m used to paying (especially since I buy mostly from thrift stores) but I am excited about mixing in a few high quality items like these to give my wardrobe a spruce up and get me ready for a new work environment.

What clothing are you looking to add to your wardrobe soon?

Music Festival Fashion and Essentials with rue21

Cute Spring fashion with rue21

Hi Kind Friends! Today I’m talking to you about music festival fashion (in collaboration with rue21). All over Instagram I’m seeing pictures of Coachella and all of the hundreds of other festivals starting this April. Are you going to any? Here is a list of festivals so you can find one in your area.

I am not going to participate in a festival myself (I just can’t stand the heat!) but there is something about the fashion choices of these festivals that has me dreaming of florals and cute hippies (and hipsters). I could just scroll through my Instagram and Tumblr liking these photos all day.

Spring Music Festival Fashion with rue21

Festival Fashion:

Some of the go-to festival fashion include floral crowns (I really want this one), woven sandals or combat boots paired with black skater dresses, high waisted shorts, crop tops or lace bralettes, and lately, the foil jewelry tattoos.

Backpacks are an essential for festivals (or even just a long day at the park or beach) and rue21 has this really cute black fringe backpack in their Festival Ready section. Backpacks are much easier to carry when you have to be walking around all day.

Last but not least, you need styling sunglasses. Heart glasses are seen everywhere during festivals, though I’m more of a fan of the big bug sunglasses. They take over my small face but I just love them.

PS Did you know about this joggers trend? I felt a little out of the loop when I found out about that one.

Festival Essentials:

If you are heading to a festival you need sunblock, water bottles and snacks (check if they are allowed at your venue), picnic blankets, and some beauty products for touch ups (like deodorant). I found this cool list on Pinterest you may find helpful:

Festival Essentials and Fashion Picks from rue21

What do you wear or bring with you on a long Spring and Summer day? What’s your favorite new trend?

I live in high waisted shorts and smell constantly of sunblock during the hotter months!

For the Love of Blue and Purple Bedding

Chic bedding ideas

If you remember from my videos House to Home and my Calming Room Tour – I have a thing for blues and purples. On my quest for new bedding (sadly my Marshalls bedding isn’t holding up so well after a year and a half) I decided to share with you some of the blue and purple bedding I’ve found online. I’m going to try and hold out until November to buy a new set (I’ve added some bedding to my wedding registry) but if I end up caving these five options are at the top of my list. Knowing me I don’t think I’ll be able to wait until November.

1. Lauren Conrad has premiered bedding sets for their LC Lauren Conrad collection at Kohls. Boy am I in love with absolutely everything Lauren does, especially this Bouquet Duvet Cover.

2. Cafepress is a fun website where you can customize pretty much everything. When I was exploring their site I found this gorgeous Monet Waterlillies Duvet. It’s pretty cool to me that you can get your favorite art piece on whatever you want.

3. On Urban Outfitters I found a gorgeous pom pom duvet (called Magical Thinking Pom-Fringe) that I think it looks very mature chic, if you understand what I mean. I think this may be my favorite of the five.

4. This Ruffle Ombre Duvet from Target (I think I live at Target) is really cute and girly. The only thing I’m not sure about in regards to this duvet is that it looks maybe a little too young for me. I’m not sure. What do you think?

5. Last, another duvet from Target! This one is called Shabby Chic Faded Paper Roses. I love shabby chic household items. This duvet just looks very loved because of the faded color and it has a really sweet attitude about it.

Please send me your bedding recommendations in the comments below!

I’d love some more ideas before I make my final decision.

My Pre-Wedding Skincare for Bright and Blemish-Free Skin

Pre-wedding skincare routine

Thank you Hip Apotheca for letting me try your Antipodes products and for sponsoring this post! I’m really excited with how fast the products have started to make an effect on my skin.

In less than right months, I’ll be getting married! That is literally no time at all. Because of this, I’ve been working a lot harder on making sure that I keep my skin happy so I can look and feel my absolute best on my special day.

My skin, a weird combination of dry/normal/cystic-acne, needs some special care. Here are the skincare products I’m currently using to keep my skin bright, moisturized, and blemish free. I was hoping my skin wouldn’t need acne products at 24 but it is still a bit of a problem.

See my pre-wedding skincare routine in the video above.

Products mentioned in this video:

  1. Antipodes Juliet Skin Brightening Gel Cleanser
  2. Antipodes Apostle Skin Brightening Serum
  3. DIY coconut oil and glycerin moisturizer
  4. Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser (to take off my makeup, about once or twice a week)

Antipodes wedding skincare

The Antipodes products are aimed at brightening the skin with kiwi and hibiscus while targeting acne with honey. If you have oily skin you can still use the serum because it doesn’t add any extra moisture. Since my skin is more dry, I do need to make sure my moisturizer is intense to make up for this. You can get the Antipodes cleanser and serum for 15% off with the code BM2014. They are pricier products but after starting to see a brighter complexion after my first week (It’s almost been three weeks now) I feel like it’s worth it.

For taking off my makeup, I love the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser. You can even use it on your eye makeup without feeling like your eyes are burning. I think this is my third or fourth bottle of this product.

Do you do any special face masks before big events?

Pinky & Xiomy’s First Review: The Orapup

Orapup review Today I have my first dog product review with Pinky and Xiomy. By the way, today is Xiomy’s first birthday! I can’t believe how much she has grown. An Orapup (c/o) is a tongue cleaner for dogs. Since it is almost impossible to brush Pinky’s teeth, I think this is the only oral health product he will be able to use. Check out how Pinky and Xiomy reacted to the Orapup in the video below.

Now, for more detailed thoughts on the Orapup.

Orapup review 2

The soft bristles on the Orapup are what actually cleans the dogs breath. When the lick the Orapup they are actually scrubbing their tongue, thus getting rid of a build up of bacteria that can be stored there.

Orapup review 3 Lickies nutrition info

I think the ingredients of the juice for the Orabrush is a little ambiguous. I wish they had a little more detail then “flavors” but at least the other ingredients aren’t scary. The Lickies are supposed to help with plaque as well as encourage your dogs to lick the Orapup. I assume it has something to do with stimulating more saliva in the mouth to help wash away plaque.

I’ve been using the Orabrush on my two dogs once a day for three consecutive days so far and haven’t noticed a difference in their breath yet. However, I don’t generally go around smelling my dogs breath every few hours so I can’t comment much on that. I do believe that the product is working though, despite not being able to smell the difference. I use an Orabrush (c/o, a tongue cleaner for the human variety) and see a difference in the color of my tongue so I believe that bacteria is actually being taken away from my dogs breath.

Also, Pinky and Xiomy seem excited about it. Xiomy actually tried to steal hers and use it as a toy so the fact that an oral hygiene product is fun for them makes me happy.

That is our review of the Orapup! You can pre-order your Orapup at When you order one Orapup you get two Orabrushes for human’s as well. It costs $20 for an Orapup, one 30-day supply of Lickies, and two Orabrushes. That’s a pretty good value!

Thank you Orapup for sponsoring this honest review! The money generated from this post and video went straight into Chris and I‘s home savings.

Do your dogs let you brush their teeth? Would you consider an Orapup?

Let me know in the comments!

We’re {Eventually} Getting Married: My Wedding Ring

Passing on Wedding Rings and Jewelry by Rebecca Kelsey 3

I believe that passing on wedding rings is like passing on love. Imagining that these objects absorb the love around them makes me incredibly happy.  I have just always been incredibly passionate about the idea of saving my precious jewelry for my daughters or granddaughters. Above is my late Abuela’s wedding ring. When Chris and I finally tie the knot (hopefully sometime next year), it will be my wedding ring as well.

Passing on Wedding Rings and Jewelry by Rebecca Kelsey 2

Right now the ring is incredibly large on my finger so I’ll have to bring it in to be sized before I can wear it. I’m a little nervous about getting it sized and something bad happening to it because I’ve never seen a ring with this design before. It’s really interesting that it has both circle and square shaped diamonds.

You don’t see that kind of setting too often. This ring was made in Cuba and traveled to America when my Mom was really young (in the 1970s). I don’t have the date that my late Abuela got married but her first child was born in 1951 so this ring has been through many years.

Passing on Wedding Rings and Jewelry by Rebecca Kelsey 6

For good measure, above is my Mother’s engagement ring and wedding ring. I’m currently using her engagement ring. After I get married I don’t plain on wearing it anymore since Abuela’s ring is so massive. They just don’t look right with each other. We’re not sure yet if we’ll pass Mom’s wedding ring set to our daughters or to my sister Amanda when it’s her time to get married.

Fun fact, I wore my Mom’s wedding ring all throughout high school! My parents divorced when I was really young.

When I think about what ring I would have chosen if I didn’t have my Abuela’s, I feel conflicted. Part of me wants a stand out vintage inspired ring (like the Hayley diamond ring, it’s technically an engagement ring but I’d wear it as a wedding ring) but then another part of me wants something more understated like my Mom’s. It’s so hard to decide. It’s surprising how many different kinds of wedding rings there are. According to this wedding ring guide from Samara James there is a lot of different cuts to consider as well as the diamond’s clarity.

What wedding ring do you have or want to have?

Take a look at the Samara James catalog if you need some inspiration.

See more of our We’re {Eventually} Getting Married posts if you haven’t caught up yet.

 P. S. Here is a necklace also passed on from my Abuela.
